There is something very unique about dance… a special magic to the human body moving well, that we can all relate to. Add captivating music, glamour, pageantry, and no wonder TV dance shows have become such a huge success. The latest show from the Bellydance Superstars is the culmination of 10 years of touring the world – over 800 shows in 25 countries – pushing the boundaries of the art of belly dance to capture the artistry, magic and passion of this unique dance. So when looking for a title for the 2012-2013 tour, only one name seemed to sum it all up…
The Bellydance Superstars never had the luxury of following in another’s footsteps (i.e. developing and improving on the work of others). They were the first and only full-time bellydance show touring the mainstream dance world. As such, they had a lot to prove, they had minds to change, and they had to educate… defining and expanding on the understanding of what this dance art was. They set a string of firsts… from national
television broadcasts of their shows in North America, Japan, China and elsewhere, to performing in some of the most prestigious venues in the world, venues reserved for the likes of the ballet and other major dance events (Riverdance, Lord of the Dance, etc.). Their DVDs and CDs have been distributed worldwide, including China.
Most importantly, Bellydance Superstars are known for their incredible live performances – fast paced, a host of musical styles, the fusion of various dance formats (from ballet to African), and as in the past, handmade costumes are totally exquisite.
