NDG bar fight leaves one man in hospital, another in jail

While some may object to the circumstances which left one man seriously injured and another couple in jail, it's nice to know chivalry is not dead. Following what could have been just another night at the bar, one man is still lying in a hospital with a number of serious stab wounds to the chest after a fight which began after he insulted another man's girlfriend during a midnight game of pool in NDG's infamous Jazz and Blues club.
“When I saw there was going to be trouble,” said 'S', “…I told them to take it outside because I didn't want any trouble in the club.”
During a brief interview with The Suburban, 'S', the club's barman, said nothing would have happened if the victim had not insulted the woman with whom he was playing pool. When her escort  told the other man to back off and shut up, the situation got loud after which 'S', told them all to take the argument out on the street and out of the club. After they left, 'S' told The Suburban that he heard some further commotion out on the street which is when he left the bar to go see what was going on.
“The guy was really laying into him until the other guy got back on his feet,” said 'S”. “That's when things got serious.”
While he wouldn't say if he actually saw the man get stabbed, 'S' did say that everything happened very quickly after the other man fell to the ground after which the couple quickly ran away from the scene of the fight.
Soon after someone made the  911 call to the city's emergency services, the victim was quickly taken to the hospital after which the police got around to looking for the fleeing couple who were now defined as 'suspects'. Within the hour, both the man and the woman were found, arrested, and put in detention where they would remain until the courts made up their mind what to do about the situation.
While the SPVM had little to say about the case, SPVM Constable Daniel LaCoursière did say that both the man and the woman involved in the assault were “well-known to the police.”n
