After finishing first in league play the LaSalle Rapides FU 16AA girls earned the opportunity to represent the Association Regionale de Soccer du Lac St-Louis in the Coupe des Champions Provinciaux Saputo AA 2012 . Over Thanksgiving Weekend the squad not only proudly represented their region but their association and brought home a gift to the city of LaSalle, which is celebrating its centennial year.
The Rapides enjoyed support over the Cup Weekend as several members of the LaSalle Minor Soccer Association were on hand. Andrea Orsini, Darlene Halfyard, Allison Halfyard-Murphy, Morris Nicolai, Domenic Nicolai all were volunteers doing different jobs during the weekend hat was held in Granby at the Granby Cosmos' Terry Fox soccer complex.
LaSalle posted a pair of 2-0 victories, first against Anjou and then in the semi-final downing Lanaudiere Center in a tough fought match to advance to the title tilt against the Ste. Foy Caravelles.
In a defensive stalemate through the first half, it was the Varavelles striking first in the 63rd minute on a goal by Claudine Rousseau.
Methodically the Rapides went to work crafting a pair of goals they needed to claim the gold medals. Karina Kor and Krystilyn Skoda provided the scoring touches in the 71st and 76th minutes of play to give LaSalle a lead they would not relinquish.
Smart ball handling and a solid defensive stand brought the game to full time in favour of the Rapides, Quebec Cup Champions 2012.
