What is Genacol?

Tracy’s answer:
Genacol is a supplement that contains hydrolyzed collagen. Collagen is found in the bones, tendons, skin and joints. It gives the elasticity and strength to muscles and organs. When your body lacks collagen the joints become stiff and painful. Some studies show that taking a product like Genacol can decrease joint pain, inflammation, and muscle stiffness. It has also been shown to help relieve arthritis.
So how do you increase your collagen without taking a supplement? Making sure your body has a sufficient amount of protein is one way to ensure collagen production. Adults require approximately 1 g/kg of protein per day. That’s an easy number to attain as many of us surpass that amount. Good protein sources are beef, chicken, eggs, soy and beans.
Vitamin C and Vitamin E are also two vitamins that help promote collagen growth. The recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) for Vitamin C is 75 mg/day. Some sources are citrus fruits, bell peppers, broccoli, papaya and watermelon. The RDA for vitamin E is 15 mg/day. Vitamin E is found in nuts, seeds, spinach, avocados, and vegetable oils. Finally the antioxidant Anthocyanin that gives fruit that purple-blue red color can also increase collagen production. Some examples are blueberries, cranberries, eggplants and grapes.
A good way to get to all the vitamins and minerals to increase your collagen is Dr Oz’s Green Drink (lemon, parsley, celery, spinach, ginger, cucumber and apple). This high fiber, low in calorie juice will give you energy, improve your skin, and boost your immunity.

Here’s to eating well
